Solar
Strijbos & van Rijswijk
2024

Solar is a sound installation designed by Strijbos & van Rijswijk that merges sustainability with art. A series of small to medium-sized solar panels is scattered across a large field. At the center stands an object reminiscent of an oversized sundial, serving as a resting point where visitors can sit and listen.

Each solar panel plays a dual role: they generate the energy needed to bring the artwork to life and act as individual sound sources. Each panel emits its own sound, and together they form a full composition. Visitors can walk among the panels or sit beside them, becoming immersed in a spatial composition performed by a chorus of invisible voices and strings.

For this project, I contributed to the research and development of the technical system behind the electronics that power the MP3 players with solar energy and drive the exciters attached to the solar panels.

Solar has been featured at three festivals so far in 2024:

Oranjewoud Festival, May 30 to June 2
Oerol, June 7 to June 16
Festival de Oversteek, September 7 & 8
